In January 1909, the Mint engaged Brenner to design a cent depicting Abraham Lincoln, the late president. The year 1909 marked the 100 year anniversary when Lincoln was born. The cent was the first coin that had the design of a U. S. president. The coin is originally 95% copper. The coin was
